Restaurant Neumarkt, Zürich, Switzerland

In the middle of Zürich's old town, through some narrow lane barely 4 feets wide is the Wirtschaft Neumarkt, on Neumarkt 5. Ok, the narrow lane really just leads to the outside part of the restaurant - on this nice summer evening nobody was served inside!

On this Monday evening without having made a reservation we got a table in the upper part of the Restaurant and enjoyed a lovely meal of Swiss dishes served by a waitress who made it a surprise to see what of our orders made it back through to us. As appetizers we had cold green pea soup and Hinkelstein (a dry, aged Swiss cheese) rubbed in olive oil and garlic with dried meat along with black bread, really black bread.

Interestingly, all of us decided to have the Loup do mer for dinner, either with a vegetable risotto or salad and baked finger potatoes, all very good and reasonable sized portions so we could digg into the deserts! The only thing I missed on the wine menu was anything from California - so we settled on a bottle of Amarone from Italy.
