Intrinsic Motivation at Work

By roro - Posted on 18 March 2009

What a great time! We are knowledge workers, the people we manage are knowledge workers, and everybody is just happy doing their job because they find their fullfillment in work. If it only were that easy!

In his book "Intrinsic Motivation at Work" Kenneth Thomas helps us to find ways on how to get out of bed in the morning so that we like to go to work. He gives great pointers on how to motivate ourselves, find out what motivates us, and encourages us to give ourselves a pat on the back. Not just a pat on the back, he wants us to say to ourselves that we did great!

And in all honesty, when was the last time your boss appreciated your work and said so? Here he then helpsus on how to motivate the people around us, the people that report to us. The same plan applies to them.
