Build the table

By roro - Posted on 27 October 2009

Our layout had to be on a permanent structure - so we needed a table to build it upon. Most books recommend that you build your first layout on a 8x4 feet plywood sheet, a standard size that you can get in home improvement stores like Lowe's or HomeDepot. Well, we looked around and took a closer look at my friend Bob's layout. His empire is in his garage but can be lifted up with pulleys and winches so that his Miata can be parked underneath - nice idea. So, if we take my parking spot in the garage, we could actually build a bigger layout, so we went for 4x10 feet. Step 1 buy wood for a table, step 2 build table, step 3 buy Homosote to cover table. It is great to have bigger kids that can help with all the drilling, cutting and screwing.
